My name is Greg, I'm the owner of this wonderful place full of nostalgia, happy memories and special times. I call it Celbase. Started in 2010 after searching for The 'Real' Ghostbusters merchandise online, I found the fantastic world of animation cels. Owning a real piece of history is something that does not come up every day and so I took it upon my self to begin this gallery and gather as many awesome pieces as I could find (over the years of course!). Now ten years later we've an incredible collection for you to enjoy and if you want to take a piece home with you theres that option to.

Celbase is a UK based animation collection gallery specialising in rare animation artwork. We collect original hand painted cel artwork that has been used in many of your favourite cartoons through the 70's, 80's and 90's until the technique was replaced in the early 00's. All of our pieces are originals from cartoons such as: The 'Real' Ghostbusters, Star Wars - The Ewoks Star Wars - Droids, He-Man & She-Ra, Marvels - X-Men - The Animated Series, Marvels - Spider-man, Iron-Man and Fantastic 4, Ren & Stimpy, Bravestar and more.

What is an Animation Cel?
A cel, short for celluloid, is a transparent sheet on which objects are drawn or painted for traditional, hand-drawn animation. With the advent of computer assisted animation production, the use of cels has been practically abandoned in major productions. Disney stopped using cels in 1990 when Computer Animation Production System (CAPS) replaced this element in their animation process.
